Clearly Kosciusko Member Spotlight – The Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams
Wednesday, February 22, 2023

We appreciate and support all of our members. The Clearly Kosciusko Member Spotlight is a way for our members to highlight their organization or business and for us to show how much we appreciate their participation.
The Clearly Kosciusko member we’re shining the spotlight on this month is The Lilly Center For Lakes & Streams, a founding partner of Clearly Kosciusko, championing the lakes and the role they play in our local environment and economy.
About The Lilly Center

The Lilly Center (based at Grace College in Winona Lake) provides lake-focused, actionable data, educational resources, and best practices for homeowners and visitors.
Kosciusko County is home to 100+ freshwater lakes and 600+ miles of streams. The organization recommends lake-focused best practices based on thorough research and helps local families and businesses adopt them.
They accomplish this through conducting research, providing resources, educating Kosciusko County residents, and collaborating with local organizations and businesses.
Connecting With Our Local Community
The Lilly Center partners with many community organizations in order to make Kosciusko County’s lakes and streams clean, healthy, safe, and beautiful.
Partners like Kosciusko Soil & Water Conservation District, KC Recycling Depot, The Watershed Foundation, Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation, Grace College, and others further their common goal of protecting our natural resources for the next generation.
Through their research and quality education, The Lilly Center is able to ensure Kosciusko County’s lakes are healthy for future generations to enjoy.
One particular area of the center’s research is studying blue-green algae. Blue-green algae, a nickname for cyanobacteria, produce a toxin called microcystin. This summer, The Lilly Center will provide toxin updates for 14 lakes in Kosciusko County.
They believe that making Kosciusko County county’s lakes a safe place to play and work amplifies the value of our community. To learn more about this research and sign up for notifications visit: lakes.grace.edu/microcystin
Why Clearly Kosciusko?
“As one of the founding members of Clearly Kosciusko, the Lilly Center has been lucky enough to be involved since the beginning. The Lilly Center, in conversation with the Kosciusko County Convention & Visitors Bureau (KCCVB), saw an opportunity to create a unified voice for all the amazing things Kosciusko County offers. These two, alongside the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, and Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation, collaborated to create what is now known as Clearly Kosciusko.”
Rusty Martinez, Assistant Director of Marketing for The Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams
