How You Can Enjoy Kosciusko County This Winter
Thursday, February 11, 2021

The cold, snowy season can be the toughest to enjoy for many people here in Kosciusko County. There are always plenty of outdoor activities and things to explore and do in the summer months, but what are our options for winter?
Even though the temperatures have dropped, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy time in our beautiful county this season and support local businesses as well!
For example, did you have any idea that you could cycle in the snow? Thanks to a recent article highlighted by the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau (KCCVB), local cyclists are still taking to the Winona Lake trails.

“The Warsaw and Winona Lake areas boast several miles of trails, from paved greenways to more rugged mountain bike courses. Weather permitting, cyclists can be seen taking advantage of these trails year-round.”
If you’re looking for activities and events happening throughout Kosciusko County, the KCCVB should be your go-to resource.
Another fantastic resource to use when you’re looking for something new to enjoy this winter is the Clearly Kosciusko podcast series, supported by KEDCO and J.C. Innovations.
A recent episode featured one of our members: Port Winona’s co-owner Tiffany Aites. In the episode, Tiffany shares the story behind Port Winona and includes her personal recommendations for her favorite spots throughout Kosciusko County.
If braving the snow and chilly temperatures in the great outdoors isn’t for you, don’t worry! There are plenty of local businesses throughout the county with warm, cozy spaces ideal for shopping, eating, and enjoying socially-distanced events.
The Village At Winona in Winona Lake is hosting a Wine About The Winter wine tasting event on February 27. After checking in and purchasing your ticket at Port Winona, use your passport and travel to the other 12 participating shops to sample various wines and enjoy their food, atmosphere, and one-of-a-kind artisan experiences.
Finish the night with a free glass of wine with dinner at one of the Village’s participating restaurants! The event begins at 2pm and ends at 6pm.
The Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce does a great job of highlighting local community events and businesses thanks to their Winter Passport. You can download your own passport directly from their website and earn stamps as you shop at local businesses. Once you’ve completed your passport, drop it off the Chamber to be entered in the prize drawing.
Whether you’d rather stay warm and cozy inside or brave the snowy, icy elements of Kosciusko County this winter, there are always plenty of winter activities to enjoy!
